Looking After Your Car Decals
Not much to it, but a few things make a real difference. Hand wash where you can, or use a touchless wash. Brush washes are the fastest way to lift an edge.
Keep the pressure washer at a distance and off the edges. Straight into a seam will get underneath it eventually.
Skip abrasive polishes and cutting compounds over printed areas. Rinse the salt off if the vehicle lives near the coast or gets towed to a boat ramp.
Do that and good vinyl holds its colour for years rather than going chalky and cracked by year two.
Removing & Updating Car Decals
Rebranding, selling the vehicle, or handing a lease back? Decals need to come off properly.
Done right, with heat and or steam, and patience, quality vinyl lifts cleanly and leaves the paint underneath intact. Done wrong, in a hurry, with a scraper, it does not.
One thing to expect: the paint under the decal has been shaded from UV while the rest of the vehicle has not. On older vehicles you may see a contrast once the vinyl is off. A cut and polish evens it out.

How are car decals installed?
It’s all in the prep. First, we thoroughly clean and dry the area. Then line up the decal, peel the backing, and apply it using a squeegee or firm cloth, smoothing out bubbles as you go. Once in place, we remove any transfer tape and let the decal set for 24 hours before washing or waxing. Its not an easy process, so make sure you do it with us.
Am I allowed to put decals on my car?
In most cases, absolutely. Personal or business decals are fine so long as they don’t block your windows, mirrors, headlights, or number plates. If you’re planning to go big with commercial graphics, it’s worth checking with your local road authority just to be sure—rules can vary depending on your region.
How durable are car decals?
Top-tier car decals are built to last. Expect 5 to 7 years of vibrant colour and sticking power, especially with laminated options. They resist UV rays, light scratches, and weather wear. Just avoid aggressive power washing and they’ll stay looking flash for the long haul.
How much do car decals cost?
Base packages start from $495 plus GST, installed, which covers your logo on both front doors and the tailgate. Bigger coverage, extra panels and wraps are quoted individually.
How long does it take to fit vehicle decals?
Most single-vehicle jobs are done in half a day depending on the coverage of the graphics. Fleets are scheduled a few vehicles at a time so you are never short on the road.
Can you sign a whole fleet?
Yes. We set the layout up once and apply it consistently across every vehicle, including ones you buy later. Same colours, same positions, same finish. Adding a vehicle down the track is quick and cheap because the design work is already done.
Can you remove old decals from my vehicle?
We would need to see the condition of the graphics that need removing in order to give you an estimate. Particularly old graphics or those produced on calendared vinyl can take a lot longer than quality vinyl that lifts cleanly with heat and patience, leaving the paint underneath intact. Expect some contrast in the paint where the decal has been shading it from UV, especially on older vehicles. A cut and polish can even it out.
