How to install window film?
To install Ultra-clear window vinyl,
First, your glass print comes to you in 3 layers as below:
- The removable non-sticky backing film (to discard)
- Printed glossy decal
- Slightly sticky top film protechtive layer (to discard)
Tools required
- Window squeegee (provided)
- Alcohol based glass cleaner or meths
- Water spray bottle with clean water
- Clean the area where you will be placing your print using isopropyl alcohol or meths. Ensure it is totally free from dirt and any lint before starting to apply.
- Remove the non-sticky backing film and discard – this often has already bubbled up & lifted from the decal. Do this slowly and be careful not to let the decal stick to the film & lift with it.
- Work out where you are going to place your birds and lightly mist the glass with the water.
- Position your decal on the glass and using your squeegee, gently sweep from the centre outwards on the top film protective layer.
- Now squeegee firmer removing from top to bottom to remove any water that may be trapped under the vinyl.
- Remove the top film protective layer completely making sure the printed decal doesn’t lift with it, and check once more for any little bubbles of water that need to be pushed out with your squeegee. You may need to apply a lot of pressure on the squeegee moving from the middle to the outer edge of the decal and any excess water bubbles will pop out of the edge of the decal.
- Stand back and admire your glass decal installation !
The durability of the inks will depend on the amount of sunshine your print is exposed to. Clean using a damp micro-fibre cloth.
